Who’s up for smoked ham, oven-roasted turkey, bacon-wrapped scallops, crab dip with crackers and bread, and…….dessert? That was my dinner on February 6th with the all you can eat Ducks Unlimited dinner and auction in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. The entertainment consisted a high-energy live auction, a high-priced silent auction and total fun!
Ducks Unlimited is an amazing organization that conserves, restores and manages wetlands for North America’s waterfowl. They are the world’s leader for wetlands and waterfowl conservation. There were many raffles throughout the night. It felt so wonderful to support a cause that I believe in so passionately! The wall of guns hosted a variety of shotguns and rifles that ranged from American made companies like Ruger and Remington to more high-end firearms made by Benelli, Beretta, Kimber and many more! Up on the auction block at the end of the night was a Kimber 1911 .45 caliber pistol with a custom engraved wooden grip. There are only five of these made every year and there were two of the five up for sale! That lets you know the importance of the Ducks Unlimited cause.
During the dinner, you could walk through the silent auction and look at everything before making your bids. There were framed prints, dish sets, outdoor chairs, jewelry and collector’s knives. There was also a limited edition Red Ryder carbine BB gun with a Ducks Unlimited medallion glued into the stock and the Ducks Unlimited logo carved into the foregrip.
Overall, it was a wonderful night out and I’m looking forward to the next one! Conserve our resources, reserve your tickets and Ducks Unlimited gear, and preserve your rights! Maybe I’ll see you there!
